Hey Swing Club,
Oh nose, it’s exam time (the reason why I’m sending this email on Monday morning instead of the regular sunday night). But even with exams, I can make a little room for some swing dance!
Anyways, what’s happening this week in Swing?
Monday Weekly Lessons
All lessons will be in the AFC MP1 (Downstairs)
Intermediate – 8:15-9:15 – Intermediate turns
Eh, not too much to explain for this one
Beginner – 9:15-10:15 – Introduction to Lindy Hop
This is hands down the most important lesson of the entire semester. Lindy hop is the core of swing dance and is what most of the intermediate class works on. And the best part, if you missed any of the past three weeks, this is a perfect place to start fresh.
Social Dance – 10:15-??:??
Break is next week so we wont have a chance to dance. So make this week count!
Remember, your first two lessons are free. But if you know you wanna join the club, bring $15 (or $25 for the whole year) and give the money to our treasurer Abhisheik.
Jammin on the James
There’s a big dance event coming up in three weeks in Richmond (weekend of October 15th). If you want to improve rapidly, I would highly recommend this. We have rides and housing available and once you tell us you are coming and buy your ticket, we can request funding from UVA and get you reimbursed for a large chuck of the cost.
More info on dates, times, lessons, etc can be found at http://www.jamminonthejames.com
Our Swing friends in Charlottesville hold lessons every Wednesday. A group of us drive out and take lessons. If your interested in learning more after our interest meeting, come ask me about it or check out their website at http://swingcville.org
We have a carpool list, the sign up should be self explanatory.
