[Swing Club ] No lessons tonight, picnic this Sunday, and dancing over the summer (!!)

Hey everyone,

We do NOT have lessons tonight but this Sunday (the 7th) we are having our end of the year picnic! It’s starting at 1:30 on the Lawn and we’ll just eat and hang out a while. ☀

I also realized that we forgot to talk to you about dancing over the summer. 💃 It’s a wonderful thing and there are Lindy Hop communities in almost every medium to large city in the U.S. Virginia alone has scenes in the 757 area, Richmond, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Blacksburg, two scenes in NoVa/DC (GottaSwing and Jam Cellar), and other places as well. Basically, just Google "Lindy Hop" (or more generally, "swing dancing"– Lindy Hop is just one style) and where you live and there will probably be hits.

Please feel free to reach out to anyone from the club about dancing in your area, or email me at esp3uc (or talk to me at the picnic!) and I can get you in touch with them. Luke, Khalid, and Kaitlin have all danced in NoVa in the past, and I’ve danced in Richmond the last two summers. Caleb danced in Boston last summer, and Isabelle and I will be dancing in Charlottesville this summer and we’d be very happy to have you join us!

Please reach out if you’re interested or have any questions! Also please keep in mind that dancing over the summer is really really important if you want to do the performance team or want to teach next semester. Again, get in touch Kaitlin (kcf3gu) and Jannie (jlj5hz) if you’re interested in performance, and talk with me (esp3uc) about teaching.

That’s all I have for now. Thank you all for a lovely semester and I’ll see you soon!
Emily
